Certification Board for Equine Interaction Professionals

Benefits of Certification

Professional Distinction

Certification provides documented evidence of examination by an independent certifying organization and demonstrates a certain level of knowledge about the specialized field of equine assisted practice.

Certification is identified by the public as signifying professionalism, specialized training and knowledge in the field of equine assisted interaction.

As work with equines in mental health and education becomes more readily identifiable by the public, credentials such as the CEIP will assist professionals to establish their credibility.

Commercial General Liability Insurance

Coverage is be available to Certified Equine Interaction Professionals whether they own, lease, use their own facility, or are independent contractors traveling to other locations to practice equine assisted therapy or education.

General Liability insurance protects the Named Insured (the individual CEIP practitioner or his/her business entity, whichever is named in the policy) against Bodily Injury and/or Property Damage lawsuits allegedly arising out of the Named Insured’s equine operations. This policy does not provide professional liability insurance for therapists, so that a professional liability policy will still be needed from another insurance source, in accordance with the applicable state licensing requirements.

Three limits of coverage are available:
$300,000 per occurrence. Minimum annual cost would be $425.
$500,000 per occurrence. Minimum annual cost would be $575.
$1,000,000 per occurrence with an Aggregate limit of $3,000,000. Minimum annual cost would be $695. This level is recommended.

No policy will be issued for less than the minimum. Annual costs will be based on the number of animals owned, the number used, the type of premises and a variety of other factors, and can easily exceed the minimum premium amount. Please request a quote to find out your actual costs.
